Join David Rivers for an in-depth discussion in this video Working with depth of field, part of Getting Started with Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.
- We're going to take a look now at a feature…that will allow you to simulate an effect you can get…by taking a photo with an SLR camera…even when you don't have one,…and that's depth of field.…This image here was taken with an SLR camera…and you can see that the sign in this photo…is very much in focus as is the handrail here…but the rest of the photo seems out of focus.…That's because a very short depth of field…setting was used.…What happens if you don't have an SLR camera…and you want to achieve this effect?…You bring your photo into Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo 12…and apply it yourself.…
I'm going to close this up…and move over to an image…that has zero depth of field,…you can see the entire image is in focus.…While I'd like people to focus in here on my accordion,…well, their eyes are probably being drawn away…by this bright-colored boat,…even the flowers up here in the top-left corner.…I'm going to create a depth of field effect here now…by going up to the Adjust menu…and we're going to move down to Depth of Field.…

Q: When I press the red eye button it gives me a small circle, and I am unable to adjust the size of the circle. What could be causing this problem?
A: First, make sure you’re working with an image file. Zoom into the eye itself first. Try using the arrows to change the size up or down. If that doesn't work, try clicking the dropdown arrow next to the up and down arrows and drag the slider left or right. Or, you can simply try typing in a number in the size field. One other option is to hold down your Alt key and then click and drag over the eye to select a size. If none of these work, try contacting Corel's tech support team to see if you're software has a bug.
