- The way this was colored was also an easy way, this is always an easy way, take the photograph and extract this sample or eye-dropper color from the photograph, the red, obviously, the color of the floor, some green that's in this picture, and apply those colors to this copy, the red, the green, and the floor color. What I like about sampling colors from a photograph is not only is it easy, but you get this automatic harmony with your photo. Visual hierarchy is a really important part of any design, especially on this vertical panel. We have big, medium, and small size, so we've created a hierarchy, the most important type at the top, second in the middle, third at the bottom, and then colored it dark, medium, and light. So the color hierarchy and the size hierarchy are harmonizing with each other. These two things are saying the same thing, but in different ways. By making the dense block flush to the left, we leave an open space to the right. This open space is not empty or blank.…
