What is PHP for WordPress?
- [Instructor] WordPress is the most popular content management system in the world. While there are many ways you can use and modify it from installing a plugin to adding some custom CSS, the most impactful way to make changes to WordPress is through PHP. PHP is the most prominent programming language found in WordPress and is used to create custom and child themes as well as plugins. If you want to add your own custom functionality to WordPress, PHP is the way to go. But that doesn't mean you need to become an expert in PHP before you start adding custom code. In fact because WordPress provides features on top of PHP there are just a few areas of PHP you should know to get started. We'll cover them here.
