- [Instructor] In order to manage your MySQL server, you'll need a client application. There are many such packages available for MySQL but it's easiest to get started with Oracle's own software, MySQL Workbench. As I showed previously, you can download it for free. I'll double click on the DMG file and I'll see that the DMG file contains just one package. That's the application itself. To install the software, drag MySQL Workbench into Applications. And after it's been copied over, double click on Applications to go to your Applications folder in Finder. Now start typing MySQL Workbench and when you find it, double click to open it. And when you see the security prompt, click Open. It's worth going back to System Preferences and making sure that your MySQL server is currently running and if it is, you can close down System Preferences and then in MySQL Workbench, click on the Local Instance.
