Configure personal site folders
- [Instructor] In early versions of the Macintosh operating system, you could easily create a personal website folder. This was a subfolder of your home folder that had a reserved name of sites, and you created this through system preferences. That visual interface for managing Apache was removed in Mountain Lion, but you can do the same thing in recent versions of MacOS with a few steps in terminal. The steps that I'll describe here work in macOS 10.9 Mavericks and later. The first step is to create the folder where you'll put your files. I'll go to a Finder window, and I'll go to my desktop. And then, I'll press Command and the up arrow and that takes me to my home folder. Now, I'll create a new folder and I'll name it Sites with an uppercase S. Notice that an icon is applied automatically to this folder. That's because it's recognized as a reserved folder name. And interestingly, if you try to delete this…
