Mastering a hip-hop track
- [Speaker] In the last video in this chapter, I'm going to go over and discuss some of the techniques that I'm using to master this trap beat that we've been working with throughout the course. Now, I probably would approach this a little bit differently if this were a hip hop track with a vocal. This is an instrumental track and I'm just going to hit spacebar, so we can just play this section quickly. (rhythmic hip hop beat) So one of the first things I've done is I've gone ahead and I've added in EQ and just boosted some of the tonality in mid-side mode, on the mid for, around the kick and snare in particular. Just a little bit a few DB, and then on the sides I've added a high shelf just to bring up some of that higher frequency, and sometimes this combined with the imager will give just an overall perception of a wider mix. Next, I've added our multi-ban compressor, I've used the learn function to detect for the crossover and let's take a listen here. (rhythmic hip hop beat) So…
