If you just want to look at another one of the applications in Outlook, it's easy to do and you don't have to switch from one to another, thanks to the peek. Right now, I'm in my inbox but I want to look at my calendar real quickly, so I simply point to the calendar icon and the peek opens up. If I right-click, I can choose to show the peek, and it will stay here while I scroll in my inbox or look at other things. I can also dock the peek and send it over here to the right hand side.
In this case, what I get is my date navigator and some appointments. If I dock the peek for tasks, it appears below the peek for the calendar, because these are separate. I can show multiple peeks or I can choose to open it in a new window. Now, sometimes you won't see much of a peek. If I'm in my task list and I right-click in my inbox, I don't really have a peak. I can simply open it in a new window, but i can go to people and I can open up peek here as well.
We'll talk more about this peek in a little bit, because it is the favorites peek for people and it's really pretty great. Whenever you want to just quickly look at the calendar, quickly look at people, quickly look at tasks, use the peak. I's fast and i's easy.
