…I have six unread items here at the top of my inbox.…And if I move from one to the next,…hitting the space bar, they are marked as read.…Maybe I don't want that to happen, maybe when I'm previewing messages,…I really don't them to automatically mark as read.…The same thing is true if I take a look, for example, at this message.…If I have it displayed in the reading pane for some period of time,…no matter how I move, it will be marked as read, whether I read it or not.…And often, this is the fate of the first message in my in box.…
Because I've clicked on it and I'm getting ready to do something, and…I move away, and now it's marked as read.…But I never even looked at it, there's nothing to actually watch my retinas and…see what I did.…These settings that control when things are marked as read,…you'll find in the mail options.…File > Options > Mail.…And now let's click Reading Pane.…Notice that it says, Mark items as read when the selection changes.…And this is the setting that is marking those items.…If I don't want that to happen, I can turn this off.…
