Add an email account

- [Jess] Let's get started by adding an email account to Outlook. Now, in this version of Outlook, I already have an email account here, but I'm also going to show you and you can use this step to add an additional email, because you can add more than one email account to Outlook. Now, don't worry if you're just getting started. You may have double-clicked to launch Outlook and you're right there on that first welcoming screen where it's telling you to add an email account. This is going to take you to that same screen. So don't worry, in just a moment we'll all be on the same step. Click File on the top left hand side of the screen. Make sure you're on Info on the left, and then click Add Account. Now right here is the screen where it's going to match up with what you're seeing if you're just launching Outlook for the first time, although yours may say please enter an email address to get started or some type of text like that. So let's put in an email address right here. And the very first thing you always want to do, regardless of whether or not you know the mail settings, is to see if Outlook can figure them out for you, because as the years progress, Outlook is getting smarter and automatically knows the settings to a lot of email accounts. I'm going to put in a Gmail account, and now I'll click Connect. Now, because I've logged in with Gmail on the computer, it's automatically added it to my Outlook. You may have to give Outlook permission to access your Gmail account, in which case you can click Allow. You also may need to put in your Gmail password. Once you put that in, you'll be brought to this screen. And I'll uncheck Set up Outlook Mobile on my phone too because I don't want to do that right now. I can continue adding more email addresses if I have more than one, but for now I'll click the blue Done button. My email will start downloading immediately. Now I have two email addresses here. I have an inbox down here, and I can see that it's for my Gmail address. If you use a calendar with your email program, you may get some calendar reminders, and you can just click Dismiss All to get rid of that dialog box. Now I have two email addresses. I have an inbox here on the left for my Gmail account. If I go up to the top of the screen, I have an inbox for my Exchange account. You may only have one. You may have multiple. There is no right or wrong.
