Single-row functions: Learning Oracle Database 12c

Single-row functions are typically used to transform column values on the same row with no connection to any other rows in the table or SELECT statement output. Another big difference with aggregate functions is that single-row functions may be used with or without a GROUP BY clause in the SELECT statement, although if there is a GROUP BY, the GROUP BY clause may reference the result of a single-row function. Learn how to use single-row functions to make your queries or reports more manageable and meaningful.
