Dynamic Performance Views (V$): Learning Oracle Database 12c
Dynamic Performance Views (V$): Learning Oracle Database 12c

Learn about several V$ (dynamic performance) views in the Oracle database. These views are populated in memory and do not get saved to the datafiles after a database restart. They contain status information about the current state of the database—everything from overall instance status to current wait events for all user processes currently connected to the database. Since they are not tables stored on disk, some of them are available in MOUNT mode.
