Data manipulation language (DML): Explained: Learning Oracle Database 12c

Unless you only accesses database tables as a report writer or write ad-hoc queries against tables, you will likely make changes to the contents of the database. In this video, Bob Bryla will review the key Data Manipulation Language (DML) statements in Oracle Database: INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, as well as the ambidextrous MERGE. He will also present some alternatives to deleting rows in the table with the TRUNCATE statement. But keep in mind that most databases are not used by only one person, and at any given time some users may be reading rows from tables while others are making changes to tables. To ensure that there is logical consistency in the database as a whole, you will use transaction control and Bob will present the basics of Oracle transaction control with the COMMIT and ROLLBACK statements.
