What you should know

- [Instructor] What should you know before taking this course? There are a few highly desirable prerequisites for taking this course, even though this is an introduction to Oracle Database 19c. It's helpful to know what a relational database is, although we'll go over some relational database basics in this course. If you've used the SQL language before with other relational databases, then the SQL statements we'll cover in this course will seem very familiar. Knowing your way around Linux as an operating system will be helpful, too. Oracle Database 19c runs predominately on Linux and Unix based platforms. Finally, from a hardware perspective, if you're going to install Linux on a virtual machine, you'll have to have experience installing operating systems using your favorite VM hypervisor. From a software perspective, you'll need to install Oracle or Red Hat Linux before starting this series. Oracle Linux 7 is available for free download from Oracle.com for evaluation purposes. Let's get started with Oracle Database 19c.
