- [Instructor] Before you can install the Oracle software, you must make sure your Linux environment is ready to install it. Fortunately, Oracle Database 19C runs on many different OS platforms, such as Microsoft Windows, and several different Linux distributions supported by Oracle: Oracle Linux, Red Hat Linux, SuSE Linux, IBM AIX on Power hardware, and Oracle Solaris on SPARC hardware. Oracle Database runs on other Linux distributions, but you might have to do a bit of tweaking to get it working on these, and Oracle will not provide any support if something goes wrong. Here are the general requirements for your Linux server, in addition to the standard Linux installation. Oracle Linux version seven, eight gigabytes of RAM, and one CPU core, but more CPUs are better, since Oracle Database 19C can take advantage of all the cores you have.
