- [Narrator] As part of assigning password policies to users we can enforce that our data with users will have to use strong passwords for authentication, you know, passwords that contain a combination of upper case and lower case characters, as well as special characters. This is accomplished using an Oracle password verification function. What this function does, is accept a user name and password, and tests the password for complexity. Password verification functions are attached to specific profiles in our database. Let's see how we can enforce password complexity in Oracle. First, we'll log on to our ORCL (inaudible) database with an administrative user. So I'll type sql plus sys, slash, oracle at orcl as sysdba.
