- [Instructor] When you create a table, you create it with one or several columns. You can't have a database table without any columns. After you create a table, the data content is not static, but it's likely that the column definitions are not either. Over time, you might have to add one or more columns to satisfy new business requirements. You might have a need to remove columns, too, for corporate privacy reasons, or just to save space in the table. or it was just the wrong table to put the column. I'll demonstate that here. Naming rules for table columns are the same as for most database objects. You have to start it with a letter, it can be up to 128 characters long, and the rest of the name can only be letters, numbers, and the three special characters, underscore, dollar sign, and pound sign. It's possible to create a column name in mixed case if you surround the column name in double quotes, but then, going forward, you'll always have the put the column name in double quotes.…
