- [Instructor] In a database shop, especially a heterogeneous environment with multiple vendors, you're going to hear about ANSI SQL. Let's talk about what ANSI SQL means and whether it's that important even when you have several versions of several vendor's databases running in your data center. What is ANSI? The American National Standards Institute. Their goal is to provide somewhat objective standards to ensure safety and speak a common language for everything from paper sizes, to eye protection, to hot tubs. When it comes to Oracle database, we're concerned about the SQL language. It has evolved over the years primarily from vendor enhancements and the desire for interoperability. The first SQL standard was formulated in 1986, and most recently the draft version of SQL 2019 was released. What about Oracle Database 19c SQL?
