- [Scott] A home IT lab gives you a place to practice your IT skills on your own hardware, helping you to refine your understanding, allowing you to try new things, and giving you the space to become more efficient at various aspects of system administration. Whether you're a hobbyist or a professional, having a space to tinker with systems is absolutely critical. But setting up a home lab can be fairly daunting if you're starting from scratch. There's a lot to consider. What roles will your lab fulfill? What kind of hardware, networking, and software are involved? How much will it all cost? And what happens if something breaks? In this LinkedIn Learning course, I'll discuss these concerns, and introduce you to things you'll want to keep in mind when designing a home lab. I'll also go over some of the popular tools used to build a lab. I'm Scott Simpson, and I hope you'll join me. Let's go.
