Join Gini von Courter for an in-depth discussion in this video Setting up a new Box account, part of Box OneCloud Apps for Mobile Productivity.
- If you don't have a box account, and you want to create one and you're not already part of a team using box, simply go to www.box.com and you'll see the opening splash screen and say, "I'd like to sign up." You'll get some choices about different types of plans that you can use. Most of the features that I'm going to show you would be available in any of these plans. You'll only use an Enterprise plan if you're part of a larger organization and you wouldn't be setting up an account this way.
If you're the first person in your organization and you want to check things out for yourself, then use Personal. If you want to check things out for a team, you might want to begin with a Starter pack here. And again, the most popular is Business, which is a little more expensive, 15 dollars a user a month, but again, the box one cloud apps work with all of these different plans, so you're going to choose a box plan based on your criteria for how you wish to use box. If you wanted to setup, for example a starter for your team, then you'll be prompted to enter your first and last name information here, enter a business email, and this is important, because the domain that your email comes from will be used to help identify other people in your domain.
So, I'm going to enter my email at my organization. Any one else joining from this domain will in some way be related to me. I'm going to enter my password information. Remember that you want to have a strong password. So you're using at least three of the four different types of characters, numbers, lowercase, uppercase, and symbols. You need to enter your contact information, and your business name.
And it wants to know how large your business is. It's a small business, mid-sized business, larger businesses, we're in this size range. Notice that I won't be charged for 14 days so I can check this out. I need to have at least three users, 100 gigabytes of storage, so I'm gonna be paying for three users even if I'm the only user from the start. So I might as well have talked to a couple of my colleagues and asked them if they'd like to check this out with me.
Now I'll need to provide information on my billing address and you know how these things work. You'll provide address information, you'll choose the number of users you want to start with. The three users will be 15 dollars a month if I chose 5 it would change to 25 a month, and so on. But my minimum is three. I'll enter a credit card number and then I'll create my account. So I'm going to go ahead and do that. You don't need to hang around while I do it, it's not a problem. After I've entered that information, I'm asked to confirm my email address.
So when I check my email, I will have an email that comes from box. Let's go look at that. Here's my email from box. It says "Click here to verify your email." So I'll do that. I'll be taken back to box, and I'll have information to help me get started with box. That's all the harder it is to set up my new box account, so that I can begin to use not just box, but the one cloud apps that help me be productive while I'm on the road using box.
