Although we're still learning the interface, I want to jump in and start to make a diagram. And I really just want to play. I think playing is a good way of learning, particularly with this software. So, I've got a blank document and if yours doesn't look just like mine, it could be that I've closed the sidebar over on the left. We won't be needing that yet. And I've closed the Inspectors on the right, so we won't be needing those either. The other thing I've done is turned off my gridlines because I like to look at it a little cleaner. If you want to look it at that way as well, that's under View and Gridlines.
You can turn those off. You see how it's already unchecked. And all I want to do is start to play. So if I take my Shape tool, and I make a shape. That's single use, so I'll click it again and make another shape. And then take my Line tool and I will connect those two shapes. Course we revert to the Selection tool and I just want you to see that as I move the shapes that are connected by a line, they stay connected and they're not just images, they are objects that are connected by a line and we've talked about that before and we'll talk about it more.
But it is a key to OmniGraffle so I think there's really a benefit to jumping in here, getting a few shapes and a few lines going, and just playing around, seeing how these things interact on the canvas, once they're established.
