There are four shortcut keys I want to share with you which will help us keep the Inbox organized. The first one is the Delete key. When you have an email selected, the Delete key does exactly as you'd expect. Your email is moved to the Deleted Items folder. It's the same thing as clicking the Delete icon. If you're handy with the keyboard and prefer it over the mouse, then Ctrl+Shift+V is for you. Use that to move the selected message into a folder of your choosing. The folder listing appears and you can use your arrow keys or type letters to select a folder. Pressing Enter moves the message into that folder.
For example, if I type I, it will select the Inbox, the right arrow key expands the folder, and now to move this message into RSVPs I'll select it using the Arrow keys and press Enter. This is the same as dragging and dropping an email onto a folder. If you want to switch to another folder to see its content, use Ctrl+Y. That will prompt you for a folder to open. Let's go check out that RSVP folder. I'll type R or use my arrow keys and select it. And the fourth shortcut key you may already be familiar with, but it's so useful I wanted to remind you about it here.
If you delete an email or move it by mistake, you can press Ctrl+Z to undo or reverse your last action. Be careful with Undo, however, as it only remembers the last one action that you've taken. Unlike Word or Excel, you can't go back 5 or 20 steps. Just one. There are a ton of other useful shortcut keys in Outlook. I'd talk about a few more in navigating through Outlook, but definitely check out the complete list that I've provided in the exercise files.
