Join Gini von Courter for an in-depth discussion in this video Launching OWA, part of Outlook Web App (OWA) 2013 Essential Training.
The very first time you log into either OWA or Outlook, you'll need to change the temporary password you've been provided, so that you can have a permanent password, that wasn't provided by the exchange server. Now, if you're using OWA for the first time and you've already used Outlook, you won't need to do this. But we actually were given a URL that takes us to OWA and we're given a password to be able to enter. And so we are going to watch as Mark Lucy sets up his account.
So, it already knows who he is because he's logged in but it says now, Mark, you need to give us your old password. So this is the password that allows him to get in here. For the very first time. And then he needs to provide a new strong password. So again, if you're using OWA for the first time ever and you haven't used Outlook, this is the process you'll go through. And you'd like to create a strong password and you had information on how to do that. You need to type the same password again and click Save. And then OWA will start for the very first time.
You'll be asked what your language is. You'll be asked to choose a time zone. And here's a brand new empty mailbox. Mark's received no email yet and this is what OWA looks like when you start it for the very first time.
