- Well, it's finally time to start working with pictures in your publications here in Publisher 2013 and we're going to begin with simply getting pictures into your publication. If you started one like we did with our KinetEco Newsletter here from a template there are a number of place holders containing images already that obviously need to be changed. We don't need an avocado next to an announcement about our K-Eco Mini Panels. So we're gonna look at different ways to get pictures into your publications in this movie.
I've updated a couple of things like added content on page four for the distributor article, etc. All right, here on page one though, it is time to remove this and replace it with something else, a picture of our Mini Panels and there's a couple of different things we can do here. One, we can go right to the image itself, just click, and then click again to select the image. You can tell there's this little mountain icon that we're gonna talk about in a moment, but right now, with the image selected, something happens on the ribbon.
A format tab appears under picture tools. Click there and you'll see over here in the adjust section we can change the picture. Click change picture and then click it again and now you can just go browsing. You could go online to office.com, use Bing image search or if you have the file you can browse for it using this option. So let's click browse because I do have some images for you in the chapter four folder of the exercise files. There's the Mini Panels right there. We'll select it and click insert.
Watch what happens. It's actually swapped out. That means the Mini Panels now show up inside that frame and the original image is pushed off into the scratch area. So we're zoomed out so we can get a good look at everything but let's zoom back in. We'll deselect by clicking off to the edge and we'll just zoom in to 100% here and you can see what that looks like. I'm not keen on the frame that we see here so we will have some adjusting to do in another movie coming up, but for now we have it in there and it was swapped out so we still have in our scratch area, this image, which we really don't need.
So with it selected just click, hit your delete key to remove it and we have our first image inserted. All right, let's scroll a little further down now. Page one looks good. Let's go to page two and we'll go over to the left-hand side. That's where page two is here in this particular view. Scroll up and you can see we have another one here, Embry House, a picture of a teacup. Well, this time we're gonna do something a little bit different. We're gonna use that swap option. So let's scroll even further over so we can get a good look at our scratch area and you can go to the insert tab or to the pictures button.
We'll browse to the file that we want. Click the browse button. I have it right there in the chapter four folder of your exercise files, it's called Embry House. We'll click insert and that just simply inserts it right there on top of the page. You can see it's way to big. Well, we're gonna scale it down. We'll just click and drag one of the corners 'til we get it to a descent size. It doesn't have to be perfect. We'll leave it over here in the scratch area. To swap pictures out all you have to do is select the image that should be swapped out. In this case, our teacup.
Give it a click, click again so you see that little mountain icon. Now we just have to drag from the mountain icon to the image we want to swap it with. So we click, drag over, and you can see right away the pink border around our teacup, it's resized to the size of our Embry House image and when we let go we've swapped the pictures. Everything's resized to fit inside the frame nicely. All we need is a proper caption down below. All right, so that's all there is to inserting graphical images like pictures that we have ready to go either from the scratch area or by browsing.
There are a number of other ones that need to be updated. As we scroll down we have some kiwi fruit here that needs to be replaced with an image about who we are. Scrolling over to the next page we have some images, Turbine Farm. And you can see our executives. There is an image of one of our executives that needs to go in there and if we go to page four selecting it, scrolling down, under the distributor article we also have something that needs to go in there.
That's your homework. Update those images however you like. Either by selecting the image first and clicking again to swap it out from the format tab using change picture, or insert the pictures into the scratch area so they're all there for you and just swap them out by clicking and dragging from the mountain icon like we just did. It's up to you how to do it, but let's get that done before we move on.
