Customizing the Ribbon

The ribbon that appears across the top of our screen in Word 2013 was actually introduced in Word 2007, and since then has gained popularity. It's become quite easy to find what it is we're looking for, thanks to the various tabs, and within those tabs, the various groups. What people don't realize is that the ribbon itself is quite customizable, and we're going to take a look at how we do that here in Word 2013, beginning with the ribbon itself, and how it appears. By default, we see the various tabs, we can click them; the ribbon is always visible to us. It does take up quite a chunk of space at the top of our screen; valuable real estate, where we could be working on our documents, so if you wanted to, you could change this so it automatically hides when you're not using it. Just go over to the right-hand side; in the bottom corner, you'll see that little arrow pointing up. Give it a click, and it's now collapsed. All we see are the tabs.
