Customizing the Quick Access Toolbar

Outlook allows for the customization of the Quick Access Toolbar, a little row of icons that appears just above the File tab in the Ribbon. What's important to remember is that Outlook actually has several Quick Access Toolbars: one while you're looking at the main Outlook window, a different one while you're writing an e-mail, another one while creating an appointment, and so on. Each can be configured to suit your needs. One of the most commonly added icons to the Quick Access Toolbar is Print, so we'll start with that. I want a simple Print icon so that I can quickly print whatever I have got selected.

I'll pull down the Customize Quick Access Toolbar menu, select Print, and I'm done. Now I'll just test it out. Notice that the Quick Access icons are available regardless of which Ribbon tab I have selected. But what about a less common command, such as creating a new note? That option doesn't exist in the customize menu, but we do see it under New Items....
