To open a blank task form: from Tasks, Ctrl+N; from any Outlook app Ctrl+Shift+K; double click in an empty spot in any tasks list. To create a task without a form: click in any tasks list and begin typing the task name. To create a task from another Outlook item (for example: an email message) drag and drop the item on Tasks in the Navigation bar. Right drag to open a shortcut menu with options for creating the new task item.
