Adjusting brightness and contrast

If your video is under or overexposed, you can adjust the brightness and contrast right inside PowerPoint without having to open up third-party video editing software. It's easy. Here's how. On Slide 4, I have our 90- second TV spot and it's overexposed. You can see how overly bright it is. I'd like to darken this clip a little. Click on the media clip and then under the Video Tools tab on the Format Ribbon, look over on the far left side in the Adjust group and there's a button with the sun on it that says Corrections.

Click on it and a grid of 25 squares will open. The current levels are in the very center with the box around them. Brightness: 0% (Normal) and Contrast: 0% (Normal). As you hold your cursor over the other boxes, you can see your media clip get brighter and darker. Brightness is the amount of light or exposure in the media clip. It goes from left to right, low to high. Low brightness is almost black. High brightness is almost white.
