- Sway is the newest member of the Microsoft Office family. It's available online. You're seeing Sway here in a browser, but Sway is also available in Windows 10, Sway is available on iOS for iPad and for iPhone. In all of those devices, Sway and the products that you create to be viewed, are optimized for the best experience given the device that they're shown on. Sway allows you to create and then share with your colleagues, or with the public, content about a particular topic.
Sway can be used to create newsletters, Sway can be used to create reports, or to create presentations. However you'd like to express your ideas that are more than text, a combination of text, images, movies, and so on, that's when you would consider using Sway. Sway has a design engine under the hood that makes it really easy to create new content. For example, this is the Climbing Mt. Rainier sample, but let's play it rather than edit it.
"Last week I climbed with six friends, here's our story." Here are the photo credits. Each day, images, formatted text. What a beautiful presentation. Not PowerPoint. Certainly not Word. A new tool to be able to provide a rich environment for creating and sharing information.
Let's return and look at Fabrikam. This Sway reminds me of a well-designed webpage. Rather than scrolling horizontally, Fabrikam Workshop scrolls vertically. About Us. Two woodworkers. Much more text here than we saw in the climbing expedition, but look at how good this looks. What We Do. The woods we use.
Sway includes different types of canvases that you can use and those determine the layout that we have. You have the ability to share Sways, to be able to post them on a webpage, or to share them on Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, and so on. We have the ability to provide feedback. So, what is Sway? Sway is a new way to share information and to share ideas.
A way that is more beautiful, more interactive, sometimes even breathtaking. You can share your Sways that you create using the Sway tools and canvas, on a wide range of devices. They're going to look great every single time you share them.
