- [Narrator] You need to understand how organizations can protect against data loss, and ensure that they're complying with GDPR, when using services such as Office 365. Let's first define data loss. Data loss is where data has been misplaced, as in, it cannot be found, and no one is aware of where it's being stored. Removed without authorization, which is same as stolen, and leaked from outside the control of the company, either accidentally or intentionally. Finally, corrupted perhaps due to a malware attack, like ransomware. Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, organizations have to comply with the protections offered to EU citizens regarding the way that their personal data is collected, stored, and processed. Three of the important underpinning tenants are, data protection by design and default, which is Article 25, security, Article 32, and personal data breaches, Article 33.
