- [Narrator] One of the first things that I recommend doing after you create an EC2 Instance is naming that Instance. Let's take a look at why that's the case and how you would go about assigning a name to an Instance. So right now, I'm looking at the list of AWS services, and I'm going to go to the Compute section and click on EC2. So here we are at the EC2 dashboard and I'm going to click on my list of Running Instances. So, as you can see right here, I've got one Instance that's running, and it's pretty easy to tell which Instance this is because I've only got one. But, imagine if I had 100 different Instances, or 200, or 1,000 or some huge number of Instances. Well, Amazon uses the Instance I.D to tell the Instances apart, that's this great big, long hexadecimal number right here. But, that number probably doesn't mean that much to you.
