Change the instance type
- [Instructor] Occasionally, you may find over time that you need to resize a virtual machine instance. You may find that the current instance is too small for your needs or that it's too large. So Amazon does make it possible to resize a virtual machine instance. In order to do so, however, you're going to have to stop the virtual machine instance. You can't change the size of the instance while the VM is running. So the way that we do this is by selecting the instance, and then I'll go to Actions, Instance State, and I'll stop the instance. So when prompted, I'll click Yes, Stop. And it can take a moment for the instance to stop. And so now that the instance has stopped, we can go ahead and resize it. The way that I do that is by selecting the instance and then going to Actions and Instance Settings. And you can see that we have a menu option to Change Instance Type. I'll go ahead and click on that now. And so now I'm prompted to choose the new instance type. Right now this is a…
