Change an instance state

- [Instructor] Right now I'm logged into the AWS console and I'm looking at a list of my EC2 instances. As you can see I've got one instance and that instance is currently running, as you can see right here. So what if we wanted to shut down this instance or reboot it? Well, if you take a look at the running indicator you can see that it falls into a column called Instance State. So if we want to shut down the instance, or reboot the instance, what we have to do is change the instance's state. And AWS makes that really easy to do. All we have to do is select the instance. And we do that by clicking on this check box right here. And then we go to actions. And you'll notice we have a menu option called Instance State. And within the Instant State menu we have options such as Start, which is grayed out because the instance is already running. And then Stop, Reboot and Terminate.
