Attach a storage volume
- [Instructor] After you create a new volume, you'll presumably want to associate that volume with an EC2 instance, so let's go ahead and do that. As you can see, I've got a data volume that I've created, and right now, that data volume isn't attached to anything. So, what I'm going to do is select the data volume, and then I'm going to go to actions, and attach volume. And so now, I'm prompted to choose the instance that I want to attach the volume to. Now, even though I've got a text field here, I don't actually have to type the name of the instance. What I can do instead is just click on this field, and all of the instances that are eligible to attach the volume to appear. So, how do we know if an instance is going to be eligible? Well, take a look at the text right here. It says, in US east 1b. So in other words, when we created the volume, we created it in a specific availability zone, which you can see right here where the mouse pointer is, in this case, US east 1b. So when we…
