Join David Gassner for an in-depth discussion in this video Using the exercise files, part of Foundations of Programming: Web Services.
This course is accompanied by exercise files, which includes finished examples of some web service code, both web services and web service clients. In the chapter on SOAP based web service, I'll show how to build a web service in Visual Studio with ASP.NET. The finished web service code is in this folder. And then, I show how to build clients that consume that web service in Windows presentation foundation for Windows desktop and in Java. And again, the finished code is included here.
In the chapter on RESTful services, I described how to build a simple service with PHP, and all of the PHP scripts are included in this folder. These are all finished applications. This course is not designed to be a hands-on tutorial, but more of an introduction to the concept of web services. And the code in these examples can help you understand how to build your own web services and web service clients.
