This course assumes that you are new to Nuke. That might also mean that you're new to the node-based compositing that is the basis of Nuke. Let's take just a minute to see how node-based compositing works. The whole idea of node-based compositing is that every image processing operation is done with a node and the nodes are strung together to make a composite. For example, this node reads in the image. This node sends the picture up to the viewer. So if I hook the viewer node to the read node, I see my picture. So let's say I wanted to add a horizontal blur. So I'll add a blur node right here and I see my horizontal blur. I'm going to follow that with this transform operation which will apply a rotation to the picture. Now notice that the blur streaks are going at an angle like this. If I switch the operational order, I am going to move the blur after the rotate.
