The new motion estimation
- [Instructor] The Foundry has invested a great deal of research into improving the motion vector calculations for the motion estimation used in Ocula. In Nuke 9, this advanced motion estimation technology has been imported into several NukeX nodes, namely VectorBlur, MotionBlur, and Kronos. In this movie, we'll see how this has affected the Nuke 9 versions. Let's start with the VectorGenerator node here. I'll open the property panel in the property bin, and the first thing we'll see is it's got GPU capability. Now here's our new motion estimation algorithm, Regularized. Local is the old one. With Regularized, you get the strength parameter. If you switch to the old Local, you'll get the old smoothness parameter. And of course, vector detail is unchanged from before. Now let's take a look at the motion vector map that's created. So I'll open up my forward_uv node. This is just a group that brings the forward channel into the viewer, makes it easier to see. We're seeing the forward_uv…
