The Mirror node

The mirror node has a very simple job. It just flips an image vertically or flops it horizontally. The key is that it does it by remapping the pixel locations without introducing any filtering to the pixels which would degrade the image quality. So, let's go at a mirror node, I'll select my read node, come up to the Transform tab and come down here and select a Mirror node. And as you can see, it is incredibly simple. If I want to mirror the image horizontally I just click on the Horizontal button. And if I want to mirror it vertically just click on the Vertical button. Any questions? When positioning a plate for a shot you very often do not want to introduce any filtering. This is a job for the position node in our next video.
