The Maintain Luminance feature

- [Instructor] Many color correcting operations will alter the luminance or brightness of an image which is usually very undesirable. The new maintain luminance feature offers a solution to this problem for both the color correct and hue correct modes. What it does is hold the luminance level of the image constant even while you're adjusting the colors. Let's see how it works. Now here's the hue correct mode. And I just wanted to show you that the mix luminance slider here is how you control the maintain luminance feature. But I'm going to demonstrate it with the color correct mode. We'll open that up and just to let you know, it's on the ranges tab so you're going to have to look on the ranges tab for the mix luminance slider. Back to the color correct tab. I'm going to home the viewer and set the viewer for luminance. So there's the gray scale luminance version of our image. Now watch what happens when I adjust the gain of the green channel down.
