Keyframe tracking

Keyframe tracking

Key frame tracking is for more difficult tracking targets. The idea is to lay down a series of key frame trackers, which the tracking algorithm will then use to get a better track. Or the auto tracker grabs a pattern at the start to compare to all subsequent frames. The key frame tracker compares the pattern to the two nearest key frames on either side to increase tracking accuracy. So let's pick a difficult target, I'll scrub through the play head and let's say we want a track on his nose because that's got lots of irregular motion and shape changes. So, we'll jump to frame one and use Alt+Cmd or Ctrl click to drop a tracker on his nose. And go to the zoom window to lock it in. Now the idea with key frame tracking is to place a key frame whenever there is a change in direction. So you want to find those excursions where things are moving and changing direction. So, I'm going to drag the plate head forward the nose goes up it stops there and that's another direction so we'll drop it…
