The Copy node

The Copy node

The channel copy node copies both channels and layers between node trees. Its default setup is to copy the alpha channel, but you can quickly set it up to copy any number of channels or entire layers. Let's see how it works. My viewer is hooked up to this image here, and as you can see, I have no alpha channel here. But let's say that I'd like to bring in the alpha channel from this gradient here, and bring it over and put it behind the ocean. So I'm going to use the copy program to do that. We'll select My Source, the Sky Gradient, go to channel, copy, oh, you notice the little k here, that means there's a keyboard shortcut. Click on that, hook it in and now I have copied the alpha channel from the sky gradient over to my ocean. Here's the way it works. This is the A side to the copy node, and this is the B side. Up here, this is the A side input and the B side input. And that means copy it from the A side to the B side. So the node by default, says, copy the RGBA layer alpha channel…
