The AddMix Node

The addmix node adds another layer of control over the edges of a composite. It's just the thing when you pull a green screen key and find your composited edges are too light or too dark. So let's take a look at the basic system. On the A side input is a four channel un pre multiplied image. There's my fourth channel the alpha channel. And you can see it's un-premultiplied 'cause it's not black around here. This is the default image input that the node is expecting. The background can be three or four channels, whatever you need. Now the key thing about the Add Mix node is that it is an over operation only, like the Key Mix node. But, it has this one extra trick that allows you to sweeten the edges. Let's take a look. I'll open up the property panel. These two curves are what allow you to adjust your edges. One curve, the A curve, is for the foreground edges. And the B curve is for the background edges.
