- [Instructor] Node is an opensource, cross-platform, runtime environment for server-side and networking applications. Is it built on top of Chrome's JavaScript runtime, the V8 engine, and so applications for Node are written in JavaScript. This is why many developers like Node because it's lightweight and you can write your frontend and backend in the same language and share libraries, reduce code write times and tech stack adoption efforts. Throughout the course, we'll be using many features of Node.js. If you would like more information on these features, I suggest you go over to the website, select the Docs tab and then select the version you are current using, and here you can find help on any topic you might need more information on.
