The Compressor

- [Male Instructor] The compressor is a powerful module in Neutron with several interesting modes. In addition you might notice that there are two compressor modules contained in each instance of the Neutron plug-in. This allows you to layer compressed signals which can be a common mixing technique, or compress at the beginning of your signal flow and then recompress after other audio effects have been applied. I have all the other modules bypassed and let's just take a look at the compressor here. By default the compressor is a single band processor. But other bands can be added by clicking on the numbers below. This will make the compressor a multi-band compressor with up to three bands. For each band we have some pretty standard compressor controls. We have a threshold. We have an attack, a release. We have a mix control for parallel processing, and then we have a make-up gain at the end. In the center we have a visual representation of our bands including the crossover and we can…
