Testing the router

- Now, let's test if our Ubuntu router host is forwarding the packets properly. I'm back to our Ubuntu host. Type nslookup, space and a well-known domain name such as worldwideweb.microsoft.com. Press enter. Issuing an nslookup command and getting a response like this means that you have the internet connection. Another surefire way to check is through pinging the network interfaces. The ultimate test is to ping the external network interface of the Ubuntu router host, whose IP is 10.0.0.6 from the Ubuntu host network interface, whose IP is 10.0.1.4. Type ping, 10.0.0.6. Press enter. The ping command works, which means that the Ubuntu router host is forwarding the packets properly. Congratulations.
