- For many companies today, the goal is a Software-Defined Data Center. You might wonder why a company would need a Software-Defined Data Center. Well, what we've been doing in the past is not going to work in the future. More and more companies are putting applications and services out into this magical area they call the cloud, but the cloud is actually resources. Those resources have to come from somewhere. So, the IT of old, the IT that we've been using is not going to continue to work into the future. Companies are either going to have some type of new IT or they're going to have no IT at all. By no IT at all, what I mean is they're going to outsource it. If you're the company that takes up the outsourcing, then, you're going to need a new type of IT, as well. Then, the question becomes do we use a Software-Defined Network, or do we use a Hardware-Defined Network? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
