- MySQL has an event scheduler that runs database operations automatically, either on a one off basis or at regular intervals. You can run a simple query to find out whether the event scheduler is enabled. I'm going to run this in my local installation of phpMyAdmin, but you should run this on your remote server if you want to schedule events there. So I'm going to go to the SQL tab and then the query that I want is, show variables like, and then in quotes event_scheduler. And just run that by clicking Go. And here is the result. Event_scheduler and the value is off. If the value is off like this, you won't be able to schedule events unless you can log into your server with superuser privileges. If the value is disabled you won't be able to run events even with superuser privileges.
