Performing a simple search
- One of the main reasons for using a database is to be able to search for specific information. In this chapter, we'll explore the different options phpMyAdmin offers for searching and querying databases. We're working with the up_and_running database so let's select that in the panel on the left. That opens the Structure tab, and immediately alongside the Structure tab are three other tabs that are all search related. The first one, SQL, always expects you to build an SQL query manually. We'll look at how that works later in the chapter. The Search and Query tabs have different roles depending on whether you're viewing a database or an individual table. When you have a database selected, the Search tab performs a simple word search, while the Query tab performs what's known as query by example.
