Importing data from an OpenDocument Spreadsheet
- [Voiceover] If you have data stored in an OpenDocument Spreadsheet, phpMyAdmin will not only import the data but it will also create the table structure if it doesn't already exist. I've opened makes.ods in Apache OpenOffice. You can find a copy of this file in the Chapter Four 04_02 folder of the exercise files. This spreadsheet contains two columns, make_id and make. When importing from an ODS file, all columns must be in the spreadsheet. Unlike importing from a CSV file, you can't import only the make column and expect phpMyAdmin to automatically populate the make_id column. Another important point is that the name of the sheet must match the name of the table that you want to import the data into. So in this little tab down at the bottom here, I've made sure that it's called makes. So let's get to work in phpMyAdmin. And we need to go to the up_and_running database and the makes table.
