Defining a table
- Defining a table and choosing the data type for each column is easy in phpMyAdmin, thanks to its form-based interface. To see how it works, let's create a table to list used cars for sale. I'll be working in the up-and-running databases I've created for this course, and I've logged in to phpMyAdmin as the root super user. So I'm going to select up_and_running from the list of databases on the left. And it asks us to create a table. The name of the table will be cars. Then you're asked for the number of columns. By default it selects four. If you don't know the number of columns that you want, just click Go because you can add extra columns later. And if you've got too many, the extra columns are ignored. I know that we want six, so I'm going to increase that to six, and then click Go. And this presents us with a form to define the table.
