- Now for our taste of swing,…we're going to cover swing rhythms.…Now, what makes that different…from any of the other divisions…of the beat we've learned so far…is that now we have three notes to the beat.…So, swing feel is like…one two three,…one two three, one two three,…and you take out the two's.…So it's like one t' three, one t' three, one t' three.…In four four time, a lot of times…it's just written as eight notes.…You don't actually see this written as triplets,…but you'll just count is as one,…ah two, ah three, ah four, ah.…
And you've heard this many times…within jazz, and blues,…and many other styles of music.…So let's dig right into this…and check out this example which is in a swing feel.…Alright so first let's just strum on down beats,…just so you can kind of get used to that pocket.…And then we'll advance…and work on many different rhythms within swing.…So here we go. Just down beats.…One, two, three, four.…(plays guitar chords)…Alright you'll notice that I was playing…really staccato on all those notes.…
